As a senior finance executive at General Electric, Pfizer, and Reader’s Digest, Greg gained first-hand experience with the issues and challenges that management faces, as well as the solutions needed to attain and sustain a competitive edge.

He has worked with clients in small-size to Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries, including financial services, healthcare, publishing, media and entertainment, energy, services, pharmaceuticals, software, technology services, hi-tech, durable goods, plumbing and electrical products. His international experience includes working with a Japanese affiliate and financial responsibility for global manufacturing and distribution.

Greg also has created and led courses for GE’s leadership development institute, Crotonville, and for GE’s Financial Management Training Program (FMP). Topics include, Business Planning and Strategic Management, Creating Shareholder Value, Performance Measurements, Cash Flow Management, Finance for Operating Managers, and Effective Presentation. He has addressed professional organizations and businesses at global and national meetings on topics ranging from planning to profitability, customer service to cash flow, and professional development to personal growth.

After almost 30 years of coaching, training, and mentoring executives as a senior finance executive, Greg transitioned into private practice, creating Dynamic Success Patterns in 2002. Prior to that, he was the Vice President, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis at Reader’s Digest. He was recruited to Reader’s Digest from Pfizer, where as the Senior Director Finance for the newly created Pfizer Global Manufacturing operation, he created the global finance team and processes that supported 36 manufacturing sites and 4 distribution centers.

Greg was recruited to Pfizer after a 25-year career at General Electric. In his final GE assignment as Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis at GE Electrical Distribution and Control, he rebuilt the financial credibility of the business’s forecasts, improving its ability to meet its commitments. Prior to that, he worked in Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis, where he prepared Board of Director presentations for the CFO and a Security Analyst presentation with the Chairman. He began his GE career as an FMP at GE Medical Systems, held a series of increasing responsible positions in the Sales and Service division and the Manufacturing division, and was promoted to Manager Finance, Magnetic Resonance Business, before being promoted to Corporate.

Accomplishments & Awards

  • At GE Corporate, Greg co-developed and facilitated the Cash Flow Management Workshop that resulted in incremental cash generation of $400 million.
  • Greg developed a 1-page model that translated operating strategies and forecasts into financial metrics and coached GE operating managers to better understand key drivers and improve forecast accuracy.
  • Greg developed an analysis and risk assessment of a global pricing and product plan, and persuaded the CEO to reject a marketing proposal to decrease price to hold share. The business held price and share and increased profit $15 million.
  • At Pfizer, Greg created a cohesive finance team from two manufacturing HQ finance teams (1 domestic, 1 international) that had never met or shared best practices by co-locating, reassigning roles, and standardizing processes.
  • Greg authored two manuals to assist those in their professional growth and development: The Vision, Value, and Service System (SM) and Creating Value-based Marketing Materials.
